Q5. Do Japanese people really care about global warming?
A5.  The answer is ‘‘Yes’’. Japan has gone through a lot of natural disasters ever, so the elderly tell young people how dangerous climate change is. Actually, young people also experienced a big earthquake recently, which is called Higashinihon Daishinsai. If people are educated well, they get to pay attention to the environment and understand what they should do. Education is a good way to avoid global warming. However, the prevalence of it is not enough yet. According to a research, only 60 percent of young people care about the environment. That number is 15 percent lower than old people. Japan still has a lot of things to improve, but I hope everyone in Japan will be eco-friendly. This information came from The New York Times. It is very famous worldwide, so I used information from it. And another one said a similar thing, so I thought I could fully rely on these two websites. As the articles said, young people are less interested in climate change. I also think people around me don’t care about it very much. I thought I needed to make an effort to let my friends notice the importance of global warming. If I work on it hard, some of my friends will change their mind and become eco-friendly.

Q6. How can we know that ozone layer is becoming thinner and thinner?

A6. Ozone layer is becoming thinner and thinner all over the world. Especially, the situation of mid-latitude areas is so miserable. The biggest factor which is destroying it is chemicals. For example, chlorine and bromine are bad for the earth. Some countries have decided the limitation of gas, but it doesn’t work well now. That is why we are more exposed to ultraviolet rays, which cause harm to human body. It is necessary for all the countries to cooperate each other. I think developed countries should introduce the latest system to the developing countries willingly. If so, the amount of gas will be decreased dramatically, and ozone layer will gradually recover. The article which discovered this fact is reliable, I think. Because it has two types, chargeable version and free version. If you want to get more exact information, you can subscribe it. However, it doesn’t compulsorily require money, so you can check it for free. Another article is also good. It has Youtube video, so if you are interested, you can watch the video. When I finished watching the video, I learned the terror of chemicals. Humans have failed by using chemicals so far. We mustn’t cause tragedies again and again. We need to pay attention to not only the earth but also outside the earth.

Q7. Was global warming really caused by human beings?

A7. Some people say that global warming is not due to humans, but there is evidence that explains it’s partly caused by us. For instance, emissions from cars and power plants affect the temperature of the earth. CO2 is the main emission. And high temperature causes irregular climate change. Growth rate becomes irregular, and people will suffer from the shortage of the crops. That’s why I thought that we should not intervene in nature overly. Humans are definitely one of the causes of global warming. Today, many cities are not eco-friendly. In Shibuya, Japan, too many cars are on the road and make big noise. Such situation is very bad for not only our body but also our mind because we are exposed to too much gas and cannot relax because of a big noise. I think that big cities like Tokyo, New York and London need more greenery. Trees have a lot of positive effects and make us feel comfortable. If it’s impossible to plant trees, I think people in big cities should use bicycles more. It is very good for our body to use bicycles when you commute. There are too many cars in the morning, so sometimes bicycles may be better than cars. We will need to reconsider our way of living.

Q8. Is global warming bad? Some animals may become happy.

A8. When we hear the word ‘‘global warming’’, most people think that it doesn’t have a good image. However, it actually benefitted some people and lands. Warmer temperature enabled some areas to cultivate crops. Canada is originally not suitable for cultivation, but now it gradually becomes a good land for crops. The number of human beings will keep on increasing, so more food will be needed. The increase of lands where we can cultivate is good news for us. Russia and Canada are large countries, so they will be an important source of supply in the future. The article I used referred to scientific researches, so it is reliable. Also, it didn’t manipulate data. Some websites refer to only good news and try to impress a good image, but What I found introduced both positive side and negative side. If you are interested in this problem, it is worth checking this website. And, when I finished reading the article, I thought that it also important to assume global warming lasts for the time being. In the worst case, we have to give up stopping it. So, it is required to make the best of the current situation. If we can handle with it properly, we will be able to survive under the hard environment.
